Triangle Spreads
The triangle spread if often thought to relate to the Great Pyramid which is a place of spiritual significance and has the attributes of strength and timelessness. However, the triangle has other more spiritual meanings such as harmony, balance and creativity, for example as represented in the Temperance card. In Christianity there is the concept of the Holy Trinity, which are symbols of the union of the mother, father and child or the three manifestations of God as the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.
The Eye of Providence
The Eye of Providence is a symbol showing an eye surrounded by rays of light enclosed by a triangle. It is often referred to as the "All-Seeing Eye" and represents the eye of God watching over mankind. It has been adopted as part of the symbolism on the reverse side of the Great Seal of the United States and is also recognized by Freemasons as a representation of the "watchful care of the Supreme Architect".
The word Providence refers to "divine guidance" and the light emanating from the triangle is similar to other crosses and religious icons that include bursts of light, all of which represent spiritual illumination or revelation.
